Rafeeeque Mavoor, a fantastic scientific illustrator gets on a call with me on a Saturday afternoon. We’re discussing plans on how to conduct a workshop but we’re pretty clueless because we’re not quite sure who this workshop will be for.

Fast forward to August, we have 600 registrations for barely 30 seats in less than 2 weeks from scientists and emerging scientists on our workshop on scientific illustration. With Rafeeque as the main star, I sat with my laptop, constantly typing emails, drafts, program schedules, program descriptions and taking breaks to think about what needs to be done next. With issues of connectivity, we were dealing with the possibility of selected students not being able to attend this workshop. However, with Rafeeque’s cooperation and brilliance we were able to figure out a way to accommodate people from all parts of the country. The week-long workshop was accessible and easy to follow.

While I stayed late to complete the sessions of the day, the participants perhaps lay awake completing their designs, and here are some amazing samples!
