Supported by the Brain Awareness Week Grant by International Brain Research Organization (IBRO) and Dana Foundation, this event was held in May 2020, when the curve was rising and the first lockdown had been implemented.
The Brain Awareness Week (BAW) is a global campaign that is conducted every year all over the world with the support of the Dana Foundation. It started with the idea of having a collaborative theme from facets like academia, government, professional, and advocacy organizations, on the common topic Brain. Now, after 25 years of its establishment, BAW has no other motive but to spread awareness about the three-pound mass of jelly sitting inside your head.
The Dana Foundation alongside organizations like International Brain Research Organizations (IBRO) and Federation of European Neuroscience Societies (FENS) invite proposals each year from universities, institutions, societies, and organizations that work in the field of Neuroscience and other related areas.
Every year, hundreds of entries are received and after rigorous and competitive selection, only a few, are chosen to execute the BAW. We are proud of the selection of our proposal from India and recognize our responsibility as Neuroscience students.
This Brain Awareness Week, with the support of Gujarat Forensic Sciences University, brought Webinars, Competitions, and giveaways for everyone. The sole purpose of this project organized by Shriya Naidu and co-organized by Vyoma Shah along with their team promoted gaining and sharing of knowledge by allowing experts to reach out to the general public and young minds.
This online event received a whopping 1000 registrations mainly from India. The team of 11 students from IIT Gandhinagar, Centre for Behavioural and Cognitive Sciences, Allahabad, and National Forensic Sciences University, ensured the success of the event.
